About

“Well, she ran away. What else was she supposed to do?
A defective princess, they would say”

Some of my primary research areas are: sick theories; representations of aging, disability, chronic pain, and illness in literature and popular media; speculative fiction; narratology; comic studies; critical theory; the rhetoric of medicine; bureaucracy in healthcare; health humanities; and the autoethnographic memoir. Much of my work is mediated through the perspective of querying the—so-called—incommunicable nature of pain.
